Vilamoura is one of the most popular resorts in central Algarve. The main attraction in the town is the famous marina. Here you will find all shapes and sizes of boats right up to luxury yachts that will make your drool!
Make sure to take a stroll around the marina… it’s worth it for the atmosphere alone. Grab some ice-cream on the way around or better yet, try a meal in one of the many restaurants. Our favourite spots to eat in Vilamoura are Mayflower, My Thai, Willies, News Café, O’Neills Irish pub, Cais i and Rosa’s Cantina
The marina is also a great place to get some retail therapy with designer shops like Hugo Boss, Lacoste and GANT as well as high street favourite United Colours of Benetton! Don't pass Casa Caravela where you'll find lots of great homeware. There are also lots of shops where you'll find typical holiday trinkets plus a newsagent or two if you need to top up on your holiday magazine reading.
Vilamoura is also well known for its classy nightlife. The marina is lined with pubs and just back from the marina you will find a couple of nightclubs, the most popular being Aguamoments. Puro Beach is another lively spot which is popular amount the glitterati and is a must if you fancy some posh cocktails in beautiful surrounds. For more relaxed socialising head to Thai Beach Club at the start of Falesia Beach. It’s also the perfect place for a pre-dance drink before heading next door to Aguamoments. Along Falesia beach in summertime you will find sunset parties which are the typical way to finish a day at the beach or start a night out! Near the Crowe Plaza you will find the casino. Try your hand at the slot machines or maybe Black Jack is more your style? This is a great spot for a bit of fun on a night out.
There are plenty of more family-friendly activities in Vilamoura too. Our favourite is the Family Golf Park Mini Golf course just off the marina. For some great laughs try your hand at at these two courses which are not as easy as they look.
Vilamoura is also the perfect destination if you’re interested in a more active holiday. The resort prides itself on its emphasis on fitness and wellbeing. You will find a dedicated outdoor exercise area running right through the centre of the main Avenida. There is also a public bike system and lots of cycle lanes making it a safe place to venture out with the family. There are also lots of nice trails off the beaten track. You can read more about these here!
The Tennis Academy is the perfect place to keep up your swing and for another type of swing practice your golf at one of the many courses including the popular Old Course. The restaurant at the Old Course is also a great spot for a bite to eat!
If you would prefer to relax then you’re in luck! There are two great spas in particular that are perfect for a day’s unwinding. Even better, let us organise your spa day for you! Just contact us, let us know what you would like to book and we can look after the rest.
You can’t visit Vilamoura without spending some time on the renowned Falesia Beach. It is one of the longest stretches of beach in Portugal and despite the numbers that flock here during the summer, because of the vast amount of space, it never feels overcrowded. There are plenty of beach clubs along the shore where you can enjoy some lunch or a sneaky evening cocktail. Why not try some paddle boarding or jet skiing? Contact us for more information on the range of water activities available along Falesia Beach.
While horse riding might not be everyone’s cup tea, it can make for a very romantic evening or fun-filled family day out. The horse riding centre on the outskirts of Vilamoura caters for everyone from beginners to advanced. To arrange some holiday horse riding, just contact us and we’ll do the rest!
If there are any other activities that aren’t listed here but which you are interested in knowing more about while staying in Vilamoura, just ask us and we would be happy to recommend the nearest facility.
